The Ivy Creek Foundation has the mission to preserve and manage the Ivy Creek and Ragged Mountain Natural Areas, both convenient destinations for nature photography. A "Nature of Virginia Photography Contest" will benefit the foundation and rules are available on the foundation's website.
Field Day of the Past is an annual September event offering a variety of photographic subjects: pig races, machinery that husks corn, makes sugar cane syrup, giant lumber saws making wood beams, cutting barrel-shaped staves from round logs and using molasses to keep belts in place.
Meadowlark Nature Photography Expo is an annual juried show of nature photography by members of the Northern Virginia Alliance of Camera Clubs.
The Nature Conservancy is looking for beautiful nature photography representing the diversity of life on Earth. Your own original digital images of our lands, waters, plants, animals and people in nature are all eligible for the annual competition.
Photo Week DC will bring together diverse photographers from Washington, Virginia and Maryland and invites competition entries from student, amateur and professional photographers.
